2015-06-01 15:36:12 -0500 commented question openable windows on schedule

So I'm guessing this must be it, choosing constant for ventilation control mode, but don't know what to put in the field AirFlow:Network:Multizone:Component:Simple Opening, for "AirMass flow coefficient when opening is closed", "minimum density difference for two-way flow" and "discharge coefficient". ???

2015-06-01 15:32:13 -0500 commented question openable windows on schedule

I have just discovered this instruction on Input Output Reference: "AirflowNetwork:Multizone:Zone This object allows control of natural ventilation through exterior and interior openings in a zone, where “opening” is defined as an openable window or door. (Note that only window, door or glass door subsurfaces in a zone that are specified using AirflowNetwork:MultiZone:Component:DetailedOpening, AirflowNetwork:MultiZone:Component:HorizontalOpening or AirflowNetwork:Multizone:Component:SimpleOpening and have an associated AirflowNetwork:Multizone:Surface object are considered to be openings)"

Hi guys! Does anyone know how I can put an interzone door and window and an exterior door, window to open and close on a scheduled basis? I am using EnergyPlus' Idf Editor and the venting schedule is independent of the conditions.

The problem was at the installation location indeed. Thank you JasonGlazer. When I installed it in the default location it worked! Thanks a lot.

I tried the suggestion for experienced users but it only writes the idf and epw files and then it crashes, before it gets to any routine.

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with the way this works. I installed it in C:/Program files, if that's what you mean.

Thanks for answering. The crash message is the one I attached to my question. Also, the version of E+ I have is 8.2.0 Update 1, I downloaded it from this link that was mentioned on the Open Studio v 1.7.0 release page:

https://github.com/NREL/EnergyPlus/re...

It's a crash of what I can tell, because it comes out on anything I try to run, even all of example files that come with E+.

:(

I have installed Energy+ 8.2.0 - Update 1.2 in a Virtual Machine of Windows 8.1 on a Mac, along with SketchUp 2015 and Open Studio 1.7 and whenever I try to run a simulation, even with an example idf file, it gives me the crash message. Do you have any idea of what could be going wrong?

Thanks

@MatthewSteen tree view blank as well @macumber I have set it on annual run. How can I post a link for the sql or idf file? @Archmage Yes, I've selected 2 timesteps per hour

BUT! I checked the simulation settings and realized I haven't put any algorithms for these extra variables! Where can I find the suitable algorithms???

@macumber, @MatthewSteen Guys, has the screenshot of the table contents helped at all? I attached it to the original question. Do you have any idea of what I could be doing wrong???

@macumber Yes I am running whole year simulation. This is a screenshot of the table of contents from RV.

Thanks guys for the answers. I am working on a Mac and I prefer using the results viewer for the results. But I still can't find the extra output variables that I mentioned! I only see the default results where you told me :(

2015-02-23 04:18:10 -0500 asked a question How does one view output variables in ResultsViewer?

Hello,

I have selected some possible output variables, from the corresponding tab in Open Studio, such as surface inside/outside face temperature, zone air humidity ratio and zone air temperature, zone exterior windows total transmitted beam solar radiation energy, zone infiltration sensible heat gain energy and others, but can' t find them anywhere in the results. In which file are they supposed to be?

The table contents from Results Viewer is like this.image description

Thanks

2015-02-08 01:59:17 -0500 answered a question Reading the .err file and not understanding a thing!

Thank you very much!! I am a very new user with no guidance, so you guys are the only one I can run to...

I am actually simulating through Open Studio and not creating the idf file manually (so I changed my tags).

1) The fenestration tip was exactly right!

2) But, since I do not have an idf file, where can I search in Open Studio for the "Output:Diagnostics,DisplayExtraWarnings;" to add ground temperatures and the "Site:GroundTemperature:BuildingSurface" to see the unused constuctions?

Thanks!!!

2015-02-07 01:36:47 -0500 asked a question Reading the .err file and not understanding a thing!

Hello,

I am getting these errors from eplusout.err but don't know what they mean and how to solve them:

  1. "Warning* ManageSizing: For a zone sizing run, there must be at least 1 Sizing:Zone input object. SimulationControl Zone Sizing option ignored." ?

  2. Where do I put the "Ground Temperatures"? Were they supposed to be in the weather file?

  3. I've got some windows that are not rectangular (deliberately) and it gets a severe error there.

  4. For the warning "There are 13 nominally unused constructions in input."? Where can I find this: "For explicit details on each unused construction, use Output:Diagnostics,DisplayExtraWarnings;"? In the Output tag of Run Simulation there is nothing.

    Thanks a lot!!!

I found eplusout.err but when I click on it to open it this comes out: "No operating system registered viewer for /var/folders/1t" ... ???

2015-01-15 12:51:04 -0500 asked a question Is Energy+ 8.2 compatible with OS 1.5.0?

I am trying to run a simulation for a model in open studio 1.5.0 on a Mac, and I get this message:

"Energy plus 8.1 is required and not yet found"

I have Energy Plus 8.2.0. on this PC. Is there a way I can get it to work? If I export the file as .idf and put it in Energy Launch Lite as input file would it work?
