2016-11-20 04:30:48 -0500 | asked a question | Substitution of a geothermal heat pump Hi, I'm doing a 20 years simulation with EnergyPlus because i have to evaluate the substitution of a geothermal heat pump. I have to simulate present heat pump for first 10 years and new heat pump for following 10 years. I build a weather file with 20 years, starting from 2006, and I tried to write an EMS program to control the two heat pumps but EnergyPlus crashed after some years of simulation. Here the EMS program: IF Year < 2016, SET OldHeatPump_Cooling_Actuator = on, SET OldHeatPump_Heating_Actuator = on, SET NewWaterHeatPump_Cooling_Actuator = off, SET NewWaterHeatPump_Heating_Actuator = off, ELSE, SET OldHeatPump_Cooling_Actuator = off, SET OldHeatPump_Heating_Actuator = off, SET NewWaterHeatPump_Cooling_Actuator = on, SET NewWaterHeatPump_Heating_Actuator = on, ENDIF How can I do it? Thanks. |

2016-11-04 10:22:05 -0500 | asked a question | ground heat exchanger double-u boreholes Can I simulate a geothermal field with double-u boreholes in OpenStudio, without use of GLHEPro? I alredy know the proprieties of the ground and the borehole (tube and grout) and also the g-function of the field. If I put this values in OS:GroundHeatExchanger:Vertical and I run the simulation, it give me this error: Severe ** Plant temperatures are getting far too cold, check controls and relative loads and capacities. This is the condenser loop. On the right, you can see some parameters of the borehole; others values are: Pipe out diameter: 0.032 m; U-tube distance: 0.0505 m; Pipe thickness: 0.003 m. I used a "setpoint manager schedule" on the outlet node of the supply side that imposes a temperature of 6°C. Also, you can see here the output error: |

2016-09-28 02:20:32 -0500 | asked a question | Thermal imbalance of the ground Hi, I'm simulating a ground source heat pump coupled with vertical borehole heat exchangers, for heating and cooling an office building. During cooling season it rejects to the ground more heat than what it absorbs during heating season, so I'd need to analyse the increase of ground temperature. Is there a way to simulate the effect of thermal imbalance of the ground with OpenStudio, EnergyPlus or other software? Thanks. |

2016-09-24 02:03:39 -0500 | answered a question | change shading type Hi, you can change shading type in OpenStudio (Spaces: Subsurfaces: ShadingControls). Here you can change the shading type for each subsurfaces or change it one time from the "edit" on the right. |

2016-09-23 09:15:12 -0500 | asked a question | Air Loop Free Cooling Hi, i'm simulating an Air-Water system with OpenStudio. Into the central air handling unit there is only one coil, for heating in winter and cooling in summer. The problem is that air temperature of all zones go down when change the season (from heating to cooling or from cooling to heating). Is there a way to stop cooling coil when outdoor air is enough cold for cooling (free cooling)? |
