It has been several years since that RP was completed. I recommend making inquiries with the faculty at Oklahoma State University which were involved in the RP. Also perhaps ask the folks at GARD Analytics which evaluated 1052-RP content for EnergyPlus. Good luck! |

2016-03-27 19:53:14 -0500 | asked a question | Automatic Receptacle Control for LEED 2009 Automatic receptacle control became a mandatory requirement of ASHRAE 90.1-2010 (section 8.4.2) and is now a prerequisite for LEED V4. My question, can this be used as an energy efficiency measure for LEED 2009 EAp2/c1? My guess is yes (obviously SSPC 90.1 thought it was worth adding to the standard) but it could be difficult to quantify. I imagine I would try to model it through an Exceptional Calculation Method by altering the schedule in the proposed model. If I were to simply use the 90.1 User's Manual schedules for office space for occupancy and plug equipment then I don't think it would show much savings. I suspect this is an EEM where it would save more in real life than it might be possible to predict with a compliance model. Unlike the default schedules we tend to use in modeling, many offices have people that leave equipment and PCs on all night long, even weekends! Any additional guidance or experience on this issue would be helpful. Thanks, |
