Ruby version for OS 1.6.x measures

Is the current OpenStudio installation version 1.6.0 or development versions 1.6.x only compatible with Ruby v2.0.0-p594 as implied in the release narrative or can later builds such as v2.0.0-p598 or later versions such as v2.1.5 be used as the Ruby compiler for measures? Does the Ruby version (x64) need to be the same as the OpenStudio version

The OpenStudio team only supports the version of Ruby that the official installers are built and ship with. Your mileage may vary using any other version. I would guess that you would have more success staying with later updates in the 2.0.0 series than moving to the 2.1 series.

You can use other versions of Ruby 2.0, however this will only be for programmatic use outside of the OpenStudio GUI's. Within the GUI's OpenStudio uses the version of Ruby that comes with the installer. Your version of ruby does need to be 64bit if you are using the 64bit OpenStudio installer. I'm not sure about using Ruby 2.1, I'll follow up with that unless someone else chimes in first.

Could you update this @David Goldwasser? I'm wondering what's the latest Ruby build I can use. I have Ruby 2.0.0p643-x64 right now, but I'm have trouble installing some gems I want to use for programmatic access to openstudio models, so I'd like to update it.
