I am trying to clear some simulation errors using the search surface tool. When I search for a surface, lets say, Surface 4. The results after hitting Search Entire Model reveals many surface across many zones. Then, I open the Inspector tool and search for Surface 4 under OpenStudio Geometry - Surface I get one surface. Can I use the Surface Search tool to search for Surface 4, and use the Inspector tool to identify which surface is Surface 4, then delete all the other surfaces in hopes of clearing loose surfaces?

The surface search isn't checking for an exact mach, rather it looks for surfaces which contain the string you enter. So not only are you seeing "Surface 4" but also "Surface 40" and "Surface 400" etc. The screenshot below shows an example of this. If you can see one off by itself, it is probably "Surface 4"

If you can't find it this way, go to the inspect and find surface 4. It will identify the parent space. Enter into that space to see "Surface 4" isolated. If you can't find it in the main SketchUp window then use the inspector to find it. After selecting the space in the inspector, then go to the "Edit" menu in sketchUp and choose "Group" or "Soild Group" at the bottom and then "Edit Group". If you still see the rest of the model from inside the group click the blue wireframe cube icon on the OpenStudio toolbar to hide other spaces.

While we could enhance this search, our development towards this is more likely to be measure based for use in the OS app. I should also point out that we do have a measure that renames surfaces based on parent space and orientation. So instead of "Surface 4" it would be something like "Space 101 Wall 180-1".

You may have already noticed this, but the search tool will reveal any object containing the search string. For example searching for "surface 4" will return all surface 4x and surface 4xx objects.

If there aren't too many surface 4s that show up you can select each one with the inspector open to verify its name. Also the Info Tool may be helpful (pointer and box icon).
