I'm trying to use EnergyPlus to see how much electricity and hot water a Photovoltaic-Thermal system in EnergyPlus would create. I've been using the IDF editor in EnergyPlus to do this, because I haven't been able to figure out how to implement the PVT system in OpenStudio. So far, I've taken the SolarCollectorFlatePlate example file that came with the EnergyPlus download, and modified it to instead use the SolarCollector:FlatPlate:PhotovoltaicThermal object instead. However, the simulation only passes water through the PVT cooling system for the first few days of the annual simulation, and then it tapers off after a week or so. I can't figure out how to get the simulation to consistently pass the same amount of water through the cooling system. Can anyone help me?

Hello! I am trying to add a photovoltaic thermal system to my residential building .idf file from PNNL, using the IDF editor in EnergyPlus. I keep encountering various errors in trying to add the system with the Simple-PVT feature, and I think most of the errors stem from not being able to see how the PVT system fits into the existing plantloop in the building model.

Is there a tool I can use to easily insert the PVT system into the PNNL model? I've tried using OpenStudio 1.5 to open the file, but I keep getting the error that my "file is not valid to draft strictness".
