Hello! I am trying to add a photovoltaic thermal system to my residential building .idf file from PNNL, using the IDF editor in EnergyPlus. I keep encountering various errors in trying to add the system with the Simple-PVT feature, and I think most of the errors stem from not being able to see how the PVT system fits into the existing plantloop in the building model.

Is there a tool I can use to easily insert the PVT system into the PNNL model? I've tried using OpenStudio 1.5 to open the file, but I keep getting the error that my "file is not valid to draft strictness".

@beanstalk, welcome to UH! Please use existing tags where possible rather than creating new tags. 'plant-loop' rather than 'plantloop'. 'energyplus' rather than 'energy+', etc. Helps keep the site organized and your questions routed to the right inboxes—many people are subscribed to the tag 'energyplus', I don't believe anyone subscribes to 'energy+'.

Are you trying to import an IDF to OpenStudio? Make sure the IDF is the same version of E+ that your current version of OpenStudio. If that doesn't resolve the issue please email it to OpenStudio@nrel.gov.

FYI - we will be adding thermal solar to 1.9.0, but only in the API, not the GU. that would mean you would need a measure to access that feature.

I know this is a post for a long time ago, but if you're interested there is a similar post discussing the PVT collector object in EnergyPlus.
