Yes, "Do Zone Sizing Calculation" is checked. Where do I upload the model? I'd appreciate the help.

I am able to find the "Design Size Gross Rated Total Heating/Cooling Capacity" for the Coil:Heating/Cooling:DX:VariableRefrigerantFlow under the Component Sizing Summary for the Entire Facility. The coils are not listed under the Equipment Summary, but the VRF fans are.

I have a heating and cooling set point schedule applied to the zones under the thermal zones tab.

That would be great David

I do, mdahlhausen.

I created a second question. See: EnergyPlus output variables in OpenStudio

Is there a way to output EnergyPlus variables that are not in the OpenStudio Output Variables tab such as "HVAC,Average,Fan Runtime Fraction" within the OpenStudio framework?

I'm modeling a VRF system with a DOAS using the VRFwithDOAS HVAC whole system measure.

Under the zone equipment detail in the OpenStudio Results nothing is showing up for sizing.

This is similar under the zone report (OpenStudio Measure). It doesn't appear as if the VRF heating/cooling coils are auto-sizing. Although it looks like the fans are.

There aren't many unmet hours. However, I'm not convinced that the load is being picked up by the VRF coil. It could be picked up by the DOAS.

Is it common for VRF coil sizes to not show up properly in the OpenStudio output report?

Any direction would be helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for the responses

Yes, EnergyPlus is the engine and OpenStudio is the GUI. How do I view peak design heating and cooling space loads within the framework of OpenStudio?

Does Open Studio use the ASHRAE Heat Balance Method to calculate design heating and cooling space loads (like IES preforms)?

Can Open Studio calculate ASHRAE loads?

2016-03-15 15:14:47 -0500 asked a question Location of OpenStudio v1.5 or v1.6

I'm trying to install an OpenStudio plugin for SketchUp 2015. I'm looking for either the OpenStudio v 1.5 or 1.6 plugin.

On the OpenStudio downloads page (https://www.openstudio.net/downloads) I'm seeing links for OpenStudio v1.10 and legacy-openstudio (github.com/NREL/legacy-openstudio). Within the NREL legacy-openstudio github page there isn't an option for v1.5 or v1.6.

Does anyone know where to find the install files for OpenStudio v1.5 or v1.6?

Thank you! Much appreciated!

2015-11-04 12:20:15 -0500 asked a question Node Connection Error: non-parent inlet node

I'm modeling a unglazed transpired solar collector that is connected to a air-to-air heat exchanger that flows into the outdoor air mixer.

The air that I am receiving is below. Is there any insight as to the root of the problem?

* Severe * Node Connection Error, Node="AIR INTAKE NODE", The same node appears as a non-parent Inlet node more than once. * ~~~ * Reference Object=SOLARCOLLECTOR:UNGLAZEDTRANSPIRED, Name=JH UTSC * ~~~ * Reference Object=HEATEXCHANGER:AIRTOAIR:SENSIBLEANDLATENT, Name=AIR-TO-AIR HX * Severe * Node Connection Error, Node="AIR OUTLET NODE", The same node appears as a non-parent Outlet node more than once. * ~~~ * Reference Object=SOLARCOLLECTOR:UNGLAZEDTRANSPIRED, Name=JH UTSC * ~~~ * Reference Object=HEATEXCHANGER:AIRTOAIR:SENSIBLEANDLATENT, Name=AIR-TO-AIR HX *** There were 2 node connection errors noted.

2015-10-29 13:48:30 -0500 asked a question Unused object: SolarCollector:UnglazedTranspired

My intent is to model a building with a unglazed transpired solar collector. There is an EnergyPlus object SolarCollector:UnglazedTranspired but it is not yet supported by OpenStudio. I generated my base building code using OpenStudio and then exported the IDF.

Within the IDF I changed outside boundary condition to OtherSideConditionsModel for the BuildingSurface:Detailed that the solar collector is located.

I created the SurfaceProperty:OtherSideConditionsModel with GapConvectionRadiation modeling type.

Then added the SolarCollector:UnglazedTranspired object. I cross referenced the appropriate boundary condition model and building surface name that were previously discussed. Inlet, outlet and setpoint node were referenced. Zone node name is the only input I am unsure about and have tried several logical options without success.

The error I receive, shown below, states that the object is being ignored.

* Warning * The following lines are "Unused Objects". These objects are in the idf * ~~~ * file but are never obtained by the simulation and therefore are NOT used. * ~~~ * Each unused object is shown. * ~~~ * See InputOutputReference document for more details. *** Object=SOLARCOLLECTOR:UNGLAZEDTRANSPIRED=JABS HALL UTSC

Is there an incompatibility with the EnergyPlus SolarCollector:UnglazedTranspired object and how OpenStudio generates the IDF code?

Has anyone had this issue before?

Why would a completely defined object be unused in EnergyPlus?

I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you!
