2015-11-26 12:46:57 -0500 asked a question Problems running OpenStudio 1.9.4 measures: Radiance daylighting measure and fan_assist_night_ventilation

Hi guys,

I’m facing a few troubles with OS 1.9.4 (win 7 64 bits machine, have the right tools installed and indicated in OSapp), above all with the measures tab.

I’ve just uninstalled and reinstalled OS 1.9.4. All the applications are in default directories. The general problem is that the OSapp often shuts down when adding o removing a measure.

I’m trying to use 2 important measures: Radiance daylighting measure and Night Ventilation (but I think it’s a general problem with Ruby o something like this).

Radiance Daylighting Measure

I sent a message in this post last week, and they told me (sending the file) that it ran well on other machine, so I guess it comes from something in mine…? Changing a few things today (uninstalling Ruby and other Radiance versions from C: hard desk) I have a “new” sterr file:

DL is deprecated, please use Fiddle skies\render_sky_input skies\render_sky_skyfuncs

So it runs the simulation but none of the Radiance results expected met… All values are 0.

fan_assist_night_ventilation

Should be important to mention that 2 days ago, it didn’t show this message… Now I can’t load the measure. I have this message:

Process exited with a non-zero exit code of: 1 DL is deprecated, please use Fiddle C:/Users/mathieu/AppData/Local/Temp/OpenStudio.gP6008/ApplyMeasureNow/UserScript/user_script.rb:293:in block in run': undefined methodname' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) from C:/Users/mathieu/AppData/Local/Temp/OpenStudio.gP6008/ApplyMeasureNow/UserScript/user_script.rb:291:in each' from C:/Users/mathieu/AppData/Local/Temp/OpenStudio.gP6008/ApplyMeasureNow/UserScript/user_script.rb:291:inrun' from in.rb:355:in `<main>'

Do you have any idea, suggestion, please…?

Please tell me if you want me to write to different messages.

Thanks!

Hi,

I installed the last release and have the same problem...

The stderr file contains: DL is deprecated, please use Fiddle

oconv: warning - (materials\materials_WG0.rad): empty file

rcontrib: warning - (materials\materials_WG0.rad): empty file

TEST_RADIANCE.jpeg

Hi all, First of all, thanks to OS team for developing such a good and complete tool for energy and light modeling! I join you an *.osm file (just change the extension). I just tried to run a radiance simulation, with the dedicated script, and I think it’s not working.

I let the default folder installation.

The daylight sensor illuminance is equal to 0, so i don’t have the mean illuminance map, nor illuminance map, etc. Am I doing something wrong?

I’m working with OS 1.9.1 and have win 7 64 bits.

Thanks for your help!

Mathieu

I updated my graphic card driver, that i found on the manufacturer's web site. I think that everyone has to look for his proper model, because it depends on the mark, the model, etc. (if i'm not wrong).

Thanks again, because the java consol helped me to find out!

May be caused with my graphic card driver. I'll let you know in a while.

Yes the measure runs, and i tried to open the file with my web browser but i don't see anything...

Well in fact, this OS measure (View model) doesn't give me visual result either.

But i was speeking about the BCP measure "View data".

I think that both of them are working (generating files), but i can't see the results...

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Sorry but, trying several options, i have to admit that the 3D visualisation does'nt work on my machine (win 7 - 64 bits). I looked for various ways (opening the html file included) but it still does'nt appear...

Doe anyone has an idea, please?

Thanks!

Thanks again.

I installed only 32 bits versions, that correspond to my system configuration. About Ruby, i installed rubyinstaller-2.0.0-p645.exe in my C drive.

Really strange...

Thanks Dan!

I already tried all that, uninstalling, reinstalling, but without success...

I think you're right, but it's really strange that with SU2013 and OS 1.4 it does'nt look so complicated. As i say, i tried the plugin installation manually, in various ways and folders, but it's still worning me about the openstudioutilitiescore.so

What i don't get, is that the legacy plugin is working good...

2015-08-20 10:47:30 -0500 commented answer Problem plugin OS 1.8.0 - Sketchup 2015 on xubuntu 15.04 (32 bits)

Don't worry, that's OK.

For the ones who are swimming in the Wine land, some elements (Xubuntu 15.04 and Wine 1.7.44): - i confirm what says Xiao Shi Zi here: with Sketchup 2013 and OpenStudio 1.4, the plugin is working right. - Sketchup 2015 and OS 1.8 are working fine; just the plugin's problem

So there's a way to manage it, even if it's not 100% updated, nor eficient.

Thanks anyway

Hi all,

Thanks for your quick answer Dan.

First of all, do you want me to change the tags?

Next, the truth is that i already installed manually the plugin. In http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3... they say that you have to install in C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp. In windows i can believe, but with Wine i don't have such a folder. Howerver, i created it to chack, but nothing. So i installed in /home/user/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Application Data/SketchUp/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/Plugins/OpenStudio (or C:/users/Public/Application Data/SketchUp/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/Plugins/OpenStudio).

3 "new" things: - i'm wondering if it's the name location in the OpenStudio-config.rb file that should be changes (C:\Program Files\OpenStudio 1.8.3\Ruby\openstudio). I tried some options, such as c:/Program\ Files/OpenStudio\ 1.8.3/Ruby/openstudio, but still don't have nothing). - the new manually installation generated a new error message i had a few days ago, when i first tried the installation: Error loading OpenStudio Sketchup Plug-In: 998: No access to memory location: -C:/Program Files/OpenStudio 1.8.3/Ruby/openstudio/openstudioutilitiescore.so > this files is in the indicated folder; i wonder if it's a question of library, etc.?

Well, thanks again if someone has an idea... And thanks Dan for your quick answer!

Regards,

Mathieu

2015-08-19 08:58:22 -0500 asked a question Problem plugin OS 1.8.0 - Sketchup 2015 on xubuntu 15.04 (32 bits)

Hi all,

i had to install xubuntu 15.04 a few days ago and i'm looking for a way to install OS 1.8 with sketchup 2015. I'm with a 32 bits version of xubuntu, and using wine 1.7.44.

Sketchup and OpenStudio are going well, but i'm still dealing with matters according to OS plugin... I'm installing the 32 bits versions, and Ruby 2.0.

My Wine cfg is windows 7.

So the problem is that, after installing OS 1.8.0, a message tells me that OS 1.8 64 bits is incompatible with Sketchup 2015 32 bits. To see what would happen with an OS 64 bits version, i installed one, and the message tells me the contrary: OS 1.8 32 bits is incompatible with Sketchup 2015 64 bits.

So it's funny, but i'm loosing my patience, and i'd like to know if some of you have an idea. I don't know if it comes from the libraries in Wine, the way i have to install ruby, etc.

For example: ruby --version ruby 2.1.2p95 (2014-05-08) [i386-linux-gnu] And in the file OpenStudio-config.rb we have “if RUBY_PLATFORM=='i386-mingw32' then require 'C:\Program Files\OpenStudio 1.7.5\Ruby\openstudio' else raise LoadError, '32-bit OpenStudio is incompatible with 64-bit SketchUp 2015'

Well, that's it. I'm lost and i really hope some one of you guys could give me some tips... I guess it's not that bad...

Thanks a lot!
