Matching constructions when matching surfaces

Hello,

I've got an easy question but couldn't find the answer anywhere. I wonder what happens about the constructions when matching two different surfaces with the OpenStudio SketchUp plugin. If I have two matched surfaces, and want to define one construction for the wall defined by these two matched surfaces, do I need : 1 - To define the same construction that I want, for both surfaces ? 2 - To define the construction only for one surface, and define something like an air wall for the other ? 3 - Something else ?

Thank you for your help

There is some checking in OpenStudio that matched surfaces have mirrored constructions. Our default interior wall is symmetrical so the same construction on both us fine. If you have a non-symetrical construction you can just assign it to one of the two surfaces, and OpenStudio will make a mirrored construction when translating to an IDF file. There are various levels of inference for constructions shown on the digram below. A common scenario is a ceiling that has a typical interior ceiling assigned, but inherited from the building level. Then above that ceiling is an attic space, with a hard assigned, or space type assigned insulated attic floor. A mirror that that construction will automatically be applied to the ceiling of the space below it.
