There is some checking in OpenStudio that matched surfaces have mirrored constructions. Our default interior wall is symmetrical so the same construction on both us fine. If you have a non-symetrical construction you can just assign it to one of the two surfaces, and OpenStudio will make a mirrored construction when translating to an IDF file. There are various levels of inference for constructions shown on the digram below. A common scenario is a ceiling that has a typical interior ceiling assigned, but inherited from the building level. Then above that ceiling is an attic space, with a hard assigned, or space type assigned insulated attic floor. A mirror that that construction will automatically be applied to the ceiling of the space below it.
