Wall shading control in EnergyPlus

I am trying to study the site-specific weather effects on building energy consumption and I am using the EMS to customize dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature and wind speed. I am calculating wall-specific quantities with CFD. However, I need to be able to control the shades on each wall. Surrounding buildings create shades on each wall differently.

How can I do that? The shading control module in EnergyPlus only works for windows, not for whole facades. And there is no actuator to control direct and diffuse radiation on each wall.

Thanks for your help.

Are you trying to change the sun exposure characteristics mid simulation or are you running a parametric study with static characteristics? If you want to set each surface as sun or not sun exposed, you can use the sun exposure filed for BuildingSurfaceDetailed, there is also a field for wind exposure.

Another approach is to build out Shading Surfaces offset from the building surfaces and apply a schedule to them.

Another option could be to manipulate the solar and thermal absorptance of the outside material in the exterior constructions to mimic the affect of less sun exposure, but there my be other consequences of this in some situations.

Following up on this answer, how can I set up solar absorptance for windows? It works exactly for what I am doing if I set solar absorptance =0 for walls, but I need to do that for windows as well.
