Trouble reading EnergyPlus Simulation results from HTML file

asked 9 years ago

updated 7 years ago

Hi All,

My model has 286 thermal zones. The zones are conditioned by DOAS, radiant slabs, radiators and fan coil units. The chilled and hot water for the systems is provided by a ChillerHeater:Absorption:DirectFired component on the plant side in the energy model. My simulation runs successfully but there seems to be some issue with results in the HTML file. Various cells in the HTML tables only have the value -1.#J.

I am trying to figure out if there is some issue with my model or if it has to do with just the results reporting. Has anyone else had similar issues with the results table in the HTML file? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you, Raghu

There is an issue with heating energy. Try running only 1 day, either in winter or a more moderate heating day (either ran separately). Then look at heating component energy use. Alternately use Output:Variable reporting for the radiators and/or absorption chiller to try and find the problem. Once you identify a problem component, use additional reporting variables to identify the cause.

@rraustad , Thank you for your guidance. I seem to have finally solved this issue. I had been looking at all the inputs related to the heating systems for the past couple of days except the design flow rates of the absorption chiller component. I had autosized the hot water, chilled water and condenser water inputs for the ChillerHeater:Absorption:DirectFired which E+ didn't like. I entered numeric values for the design flow rates for this component and the results tables now display numeric values.

Thank you once again for your help!

Thanks, Raghu

I have never seen this issue before but it might just be trying to report numbers too large. Try changing your OutputControl:Table:Style to use JtoGJ as the unit conversion and see if it shows values.

@JasonGlazer , Thank you for your response. I ran the model for 15 days after changing the OutputControl:Table:Style to JtoGJ and the issue persists. Not sure what is going wrong.
