There is an OpenStudio User Script that will add a new thermal zone to a space that doesn't have a thermal zone assignment. You can access this from SketchUp using the menu Extensions/OpenStudio User Scripts/Alter or Add Model Elements/Add New Thermal Zone for Spaces With No Thermal Zone.
In order to apply this to your imported gbXML, you will first need to delete the one thermal zone that all spaces are assigned to. This process must be done in the OpenStudio application, since you cannot add or delete thermal zones in the SketchUp extension.
