Yes, this is possible. this inheritance diagram may be helpful. It shows that both construction sets and schedules (or schedule sets) can be assigned the building > a building story > a space type > or to a space.

If you now want the use a building default assignment now, then you need to remove the assignments form the spaces. You can go to the GridView in the Spaces tab of the OpenStudio application to clear these out, I believe multi-slect should work for this.

If you ever have loads or constructions assigned directly to a space, user scripts in the SketchUp plugin can remove hard assigned constructions and hard assigned internal loads.
