I wonder if you have Soften/Smooth Edges turned on to a non-zero value. If that doesn't do anything try turning gone "View Hidden Geometry" in the "View" menu and see if a dotted line shows up where the lines are missing. It should also then let you select the individual surfaces.

I don't think anything is wrong with the OSM surfaces when you have it softened, you just can't select them when that happens. What I see if I select in the OpenStudio inspector if a smoothed surface selected is the space, vs. one of the surfaces. Showing hidden geometry or turning of smoothing solves the selection issue.
