2016-03-04 11:07:39 -0500 asked a question Building Cooling Peak load on Oct

This is an eQuest model for a office building in Texas, zone pattern is Perimeter/Core. Most of the space cooling peak loads are in the summer time, June July August. But my building peak load is on October with 90 F outside air temperature. Also, for the zones facing south, the peak load is during winter time. Is anyone know the reason? How to adjust the model?

2015-06-15 09:11:35 -0500 asked a question How to choose Ashrae Baseline Envelope in equest

The Ashrae90.1 baseline model requirement for envelop is defined as assembly max U factors. But in equest, the U-value input option is only for lightweight constructions. So, if I use Layers input, how can I choose the correct materials of the layers in order to match the u factors of Ashrae 90.1 baseline model requirement?

2015-04-24 11:47:45 -0500 asked a question How do I fix IDF Editor "too many fields" error?

Is any one used Energy plus "ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1 Prototype Building Model Package" before? I tried to use the outpatient healthcare models. But all of these models have a same error when opened with IDF editor: Too many fields for objects: controller: mechanical ventilation. Is any one know how to fix it in text editor?

Thanks,

2015-04-15 09:31:53 -0500 asked a question Modeling Daikin VRF in Equest - Too high heating consumption

I used the Daikin guide to simulate VRF in equest. There are two questions.

  1. PSZ was used as the system which only allow one zone for each system. But in my model, each system served several zones. Which system shall be chosen for multiply zones?
  2. Because the question one, I chose PTAC as the system, and changed the curves based on Daikin guide. If, I chose heat pump as the heating source, I got a very high heating consumption in winter. If, I chose electric as the heating source, the heating consumption was almost zero in winter. Who can explain it and which one is correct for VRF heating?
2015-04-15 09:08:00 -0500 answered a question Can someone explain why a PVVT is usually chosen to model VRV/VRF?

I used Daikin`s curve to simulate VRF system. But I got I very high heating consumption. Who can explain it?
