2016-06-07 09:01:10 -0500 | asked a question | Questions about chiller performance curves and chiller setting. Hi everyone, here are my specification of chillers that I simulate in EnergyPlus, I choose But I only can choose Can anyone tell me why? That's my first question. My second question is about chiller performance curves. From documentation [EngineeringReference], the topic of Electric ChillerModel Based on Condenser Entering Temperature says there are three curves to determine chiller operation at off-reference conditions. 1) Cooling Capacity Function of Temperature Curve 2) Energy Input to Cooling Output Ratio Function of Temperature Curve 3) Energy Input to Cooling Output Ratio Function of Part Load Ratio Curve
The equation of curve 1 and 2 are same, how come the coefficients are different? (From It also showed in Commercial Buildings Energy Modeling Guidelines & Procedures (MGP) chapter 6.8.2 CHILLERS link text I have the same question about different coefficients problem in Electric ChillerModel Based on Condenser Leaving Temperature in [EngineeringReference]. If there is any response, then I would be very grateful. Sincerely, Yueh-Chin |

2016-06-04 23:14:59 -0500 | commented answer | How to set chillers operating alternately? In my case, the system designer set one of two chillers as a spare chiller. To avoid chiller without long-term operation lead to failure, the designer make chiller operate alternately("Chiller01" turns on & "Chiller02" turns off at day1, then "Chiller02" turns on & "Chiller01" turns off at day2), it also helps chillers operating at high load and high efficiency. |

2016-06-04 12:30:41 -0500 | asked a question | How to set chillers operating alternately? Hi everyone, I am simulating a building with two electric chillers which are same type( same capacity, energy consumption) in EnergyPlus. In reality two chillers are operating alternately(when "Chiller01" is operating, "Chiller02" turns off), how should I set operate strategy in EnergyPlus? Is it only I set 365 days operate strategies to simulate? Or I should only set a single chiller in EnergyPlus. If there is any response, then I would be very grateful. Sincerely, Yueh-Chin |
