EnergyPlus EP-Launch Lite - Failed

Hello, I'm new to EnergyPlus. I recently downloaded the latest version for Mac, and I'm using the embedded "Getting Started" PDF to learn the program. I've tried a simple simulation using the tutorial example 1A, but when I press simulate, I get a pop-up that says "EnergyPlus Failed! Error file is the best place to start. Would you like to open the Run Folder?"

Doesn't matter if I click yes or no to this pop-up, nothing happens. Also the original tutorial example says I choose "no weather" but the EP-Launch forces me to choose one or else I can't press 'simulate'.

Wondering if this is a Mac problem, since it doesn't provide the full EP-Launch? Is it possible to run a simulation without EP Launch?
