How do you start OpenStudio Application on Mac OS X?

I am completely new to OpenStudio and really struggling to follow the installation instructions which simply say the following:

  1. Download the latest release of OpenStudio Application here.
  2. Choose the installer that matches your operating system. The OpenStudio Application package contains the following components:
  3. OpenStudio Application
  4. EnergyPlus
  5. Ruby API
  6. C# API
  7. Command Line Interface
  8. Radiance
  9. Application Resources

The next statement says "Optional - Download and install SketchUp and the Openstudio SketchUp Plug-in"

I followed these steps and launched the installer which created a folder in my Applications folder called 'OpenStudio-3.6.0'. However, this is not an application, just a folder with files in it.

There is no explanation of how to launch the application.

I then tried to follow the 'INTRODUCTORY TUTORIAL' further down the page linked above.

The first statement in this tutorial is "Selecting a Library for Constructions, Loads, and Schedules Libraries that are included with the OpenStudio Application ..." and shows a screenshot of the Windows application already open.

What I am unable to achieve is the step that launches the application.
