Heat Pump's electricity consumption in ResStock

Hello,

I'm trying to quantify the electricity saving from (space) heating in a single detached home in Detroit Michigan from installing one single speed heat pump, compared to not having any heat pump. I'm running ResStock on PAT and using buildstock.csv to run 2 scenarios.

The first scenario is when no heat pump is installed, so this is to determine my heating load for the building. For this in buildstock.csv, I set:

  • HVAC System Is Heat Pump: No
  • HVAC System Heat Pump: None
  • HVAC System Heating Electricity: Electric Baseboard

The second scenario is when heat pump (ASHP, SEER 13, 8.0 HSPF) is adopted in the same building, everything else stayed the same. For this, I set:

  • HVAC System Is Heat Pump: Yes
  • HVAC System Heat Pump: ASHP, SEER 13, 8.0 HSPF
  • HVAC System Heating Electricity: None

Comparing the electricity_heating_kwh from enduse_timeseries.csv in these two scenarios, I want to see how much electricity_heating_kwh is reduced from using heat pump.

However, for the first scenario (no heat pump), electricity_heating_kwh = 15,698 kWh, but the second scenario (with heat pump), electricity_heating_kwh = 0, so this does not capture any electricity consumed by the heat pump at all?

Is there something that I did wrong here? Thanks in advance for your help
