Validation of results obtained based on DOE Commercial Prototype Building

Hi everyone, I wonder how can one validate the results of the simulations which are based on DOE commercial Prototype Buildings. I read many academic papers that just mention that they used the DOE buildings for their case study.

Is there any common approach to validate studies that are based on these buildings? Or is it enough just to mention that you are using these buildings ?! (This happens a lot but it doesn't seem reasonable to me)
