What can I do if there's no DDY file to go with my EPW weather file?

The EnergyPlus Weather Converter produces a DDY file as it creates an EPW, providing that it finds a match in the WMO number to the Design Conditions Table in the 2013 ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals. However, if it does not find a match or if the weather file does not contain a WMO, as would be the case with a custom weather station or synthetic data from MeteoNorm, Climate Forecasting Models, etc., it will return a blank DDY file with no data. Suggestions have been posted to use the DDY from another weather file with similar climate statistics, but that seems rather self-defeating, since the main reason for using any EPW is because of its site-specific data.
