hello!
i am in the middle of modelling a wind catcher in energyplus for my masters dissertation. i'm using wind and stack open area and zone mixing for this, since im not too familiar with airflow network. however, im getting lots and lots of strange results.
i increase the wind catcher height, which would typically increase ventilation and decrease the temperatures inside the building. however, the temperatures only seem to increase.
before when i was trying to model hvac with the building, there seemed to be a big need for heating during the day strangely, which is when the wind catcher would be working. i looked at temperatures without the hvac, and they seemed fine, and even compared them hour by hour, and there were some hours where there was heating, even though the temperature at the time was within the comfortable range for which hvac shouldnt be applied.
how do i model shading inside a building in energyplus? i tried to model it using the typical shading zone object, but once again it only seemed to increase the internal temperature. i then tried to use window shading control, but there's no option to make it 1m away from the window (i'm trying to test out a wind catcher/shading integration technology, so the shading acts both as shading and also a guide for air to flow from the catcher). i also tried internal mass, but once again it just increased the temperature too.
maybe my energyplus is just broken !! but i would really appreciate any help anyone can give, especially for the first point. thank you :))
