Hello, I am fairly new to Openstudio and other tools.

I am trying to simulate different HVAC system (i.e., sizing, SEER ratings, types (room ac, central ac, heat pump, etc) for a residential unit to evaluate indoor temperature and energy use. I was wondering how to modify different component in the xml file.

Is there a software/tool that allow me to directly change some of the input parameters?

You might consider using BEopt, it is a free residential user interface that creates HPXML files and simulates them with OpenStudio-HPXML.

You can of course interact directly with OpenStudio-HPXML and create/modify HPXML files yourself, but OpenStudio-HPXML is really targeting developers of residential software tools, not end users. You need to be reasonably savvy to use OpenStudio-HPXML directly.
