Ground Heat Exchanger Simulation Issue in OpenStudio Model Version Discrepancy

Hello,

I have access to all the options within the Undisturbed Ground Temperature Model to simulate the ground heat exchanger when using OS V 1.4. However, these model options become disabled when I update OS to V 1.72 & SDK 3.7. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this issue. I've attempted to edit my IDF model file to incorporate the ground temperature model, but unfortunately, it has not been successful.

Thank you.

Too many characters for a comment.

On the SDK side of things, the undisturbed ground temperature model options for ground-source heat exchanger classes have evolved since v3.4. CTRL-F "undisturbed" in both horizontal and vertical SDK classes. Forward translation issues were fixed for SDK v3.6 for horizontal, and subsequently harmonized for SDK v3.7 for vertical. These SDK issues were first filed following a related OpenStudioApplication bug report. Although the SDK fixes are now completed, the App issue remains open.

Up until v1.6, App users indeed had 2 options ("KusudaAchenbach" and "SiteGroundTemperature") for the horizontal model, with related parameters:

I think this is what you're referring to. As of v3.6, the SDK no longer supports both options:

... which is likely why you're not seeing these options in App v1.6 onwards. I suspect these were deprecated when merging in the aforementioned fixes. Given the reliability of the SDK fixes, I'm linking this post to the initial App bug report - a friendly reminder to move forward with a fix.

The step-by-step solution here works for both horizontal and vertical GSHPs (see Aug. 25 2024 EDIT at the end) with OpenStudioApplication v1.7.1.
