I've been scouring the documentation and I can't find any description of the assemblies available as options for under-slab insulation in the "Building Envelope Construction" screen of eQuest's DD Wizard (see photo).
For example, I'm not exactly sure what "horz int bd" describes/means. I'm wondering if anyone could point me toward some documentation that describes this...
The options in eQuest come from work done by Winkelmann. This is described on page 11 of this document. Options are either "Horizontal" or "Vertical", and "Interior" or "Exterior". I assume "bd" stands for board, as in: rigid board insulation.
Thanks Neal; still a little bit unclear, as the descriptions in eQuest don't correspond exactly with those in the document, but definitely helpful. I'm trying to model was is described in the document you link to as "perimeter" insulation; my best guess is that "horz int" is what I'm after...
Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see some of the R-8 options. It must be using interpolated values from the table in the article.
You should check in either the eQ_Lib.dat, bdllib.dat, or usrlib.dat in your eQuest installation. I think any material/construction is described in one of those files and are imported into eQuest at runtime. The default materials and constructions are in bdllib.dat file. I don't know offhand if there is a way to view that information within eQuest itself, maybe someone else can answer that better.
