Hey all. I'm having trouble copying from the table view in the Elements software and pasting into Excel. It almost seems like it fails to pick up the copy because when I paste in excel it just inserts whatever was on my clipboard before i tried to copy from Elements. Hope that makes sense. Highlighting a column and using Ctrl+C or using the toolbar Edit>Copy were both tried to no avail.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Thanks! JO

I am also experiencing this issue, using Windows 8.1. Both Ctrl+C and using the pulldown Copy command results in nothing happening.

@Benjamin I moved your post to a comment since it is not an answer to the question.

Weird. Are you running Mac or Windows? In both platforms, if I use the Shift key to select all data I want to copy (Ctrl+C or Edit -> Copy) and then paste it into Excel, it works fine for me. Maybe @Peter Ellis can provide better help.

I'm running Windows 7. The really crazy thing is that when I copyclip from excel i can Ctrl+P data INTO Elements just fine. The only issue is that i can't copy clip data from elements to excel. Weird Indeed!

We just confirmed this copy/paste issue from another user. One way to recreate this is to open an EPW file, start a new Elements file, then try to copy data from the EPW file (in Elements) to the new Elements document -- this doesn't work.

One possible work-around for the copy/paste issue is to work directly on the Elements file itself. If you start a new Elements file (or open an EPW format) and save that file as *.elements format, you can click on the *.elements file and rename the extension to "zip". After you unzip the zip archive, inside you will find two files -- one for header fields and another for time-series fields. You can directly edit those files with a spreadsheet program such as MS Excel. If you want to load that file back into elements, just reverse the process: close the csv files and rezip the folder and change the zip archive extension back to "elements".

There is a little bit more about the Elements file format here:

I know Big Ladder hopes to release an update to Elements in the future and this issue has been added to the bug reports list as an open issue to fix at that time. Thank you for trying Elements and for taking the time to report this issue.

We have become aware of this bug in the Windows version and are working on getting this fixed. The Mac version does allow for copying/pasting into a spreadsheet.
