I tried to import composite wall constructions file from EnergyPlus 8.1 in my OpenStudio SketchUp model but it shows the following error:

Failed to load file at C:/EnergyPlusV8-1-0/DataSets/CompositeWallConstructions.idf.

Error: Cannot load Model for path'C:/EnergyPlusV8-1-0/DataSets/CompositeWallConstructions.idf'. Extension must be 'osm'. For 'osc's use loadComponent.

Can anyone kindly explain this?

If you are using the OpenStudio SketchUp Plugin and you want to import constructions or schedules into your current model go to the "Import" menu under "Plugins/OpenStudio" and choose the appropriate options. In your case "Import EnergyPlus IDF Constructions". You can also import from an OSM.

As a note, if you are in the stand alone OpenStudio application you can also load external objects if your dataset is an OSM by loading it as a library using the file menu. It will replace your current library resources (note: this doesn't affect the HVAC library).

i saved my model as an .osm file n then applied all the steps which you have mentioned but now it is giving the following errors:

Warning: Could not find GlobalGeometryRules object, assuming defaults

Warning: Could not find Building object, assuming 0 rotation

Warning: Could not find Building object, assuming 0 rotation

Warning: Could not find Building object, assuming 0 rotation

Warning: Could not find Building object, assuming 0 rotation

can you kindly explain this?
