Loads in OpenStudio

Hello to all, currently I am working on loads in OpenStudio (people, electric loads an gas). I can define these loads for example as people/m² or W/m². Do these loads only refer to one space, to which I assign this load later?

Please see the OpenStudio Application documentation on that subject here, but the loads can be assigned to a space or to a space type.
