I'm trying to understand how Energyplus reports and calculates the timeseries output variables. Are the variables point/instantenous measurements at that specific time, or are they averaged over the following time step?

I'm specifically looking at the indoor temperature's response to heat input. For example, if the HVAC turns on at $t_0$, does it only affect the next temperature measurement at $t_1$? Or does Energyplus calculate the change from $t_0$ to $t_1$ and report the average over the timestep?

Since EP uses (by default) finite difference approximations to calculate the change in zone temperature, I believe the output temperature variables should be a "point" measurement (temperature at that timestep). I'm not exactly sure about how this maps to the HVAC system though...
