Hi,

I have created a 2400 Sq.ft res building in BEopt. There is an unfinished 1200 Sqft basement. Two living floors each 1200 sqft and an unfinished attic of 1200 sqft. I am expecting that the Table output of the E+ file shows 2400 sqft of conditioned area; however, my output is 3610.7 sqft. I would appreciate it if someone could provide some insights about this.

Best, Mohammad

Can you attach your BEopt project file and/or provide screenshots? I just drew the building you described and got the correct result in the E+ table output file.

@shorowit Sure. Please see the BEopt file using the link below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17KNb... I would appreciate your thoughts.

Best, Mohammad

I identified the "issue". EnergyPlus is characterizing the unfinished basement thermal zone as conditioned because it has a WaterHeater:HeatPump:WrappedCondenser (heat pump water heater) in it, even though there is no space heating/cooling equipment serving it. So the BEopt model is defined correctly, but EnergyPlus is not able to correctly infer the conditioned zones.
