Cannot use Dview for OpenStudio

I'm new to EnergyPlus and Openstudio and I'm using OpenStudio Application 1.0.0 for a very simple building model simulation.

When the simulation completed, I set the path to Dview, but after that I can't open Dview to visualize the eplusout.sql file, nothing happens after clicking that button. I also tried to load the .sql file directly from Dview, it just crashed and exited.

I know little about programming so I'm only able to use the the OpenStudio Applicaiton Interface. Could someone help me with the problem?

I have also encountered this issue starting this week. I've fully deleted and reinstalled the OpenStudio Application 1.0.0. This is the error that I'm encountering: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JNKa...

Have you happened to find a solution to this?

Did you try reinstalling DView? When OS was transitioned to the "App", it no longer includes DView. You must download and install DView separately: https://github.com/NREL/wex/releases/...

In the OS app, you will also have to point it to where DView is installed on your computer. Go to: Preferences, Configure External Tools

Thank you! I've download Timestep and it seems to work pretty well.

Timestep works pretty good with temperature. Have you had any success with other variables? I can't get it to work with volumetric flow rate.

This behavior sounds similar to the issue that I have noticed when moving to OS >3.0. For me the main culprit was that as soon as you add the measure OpenStudio Results the eplusout.sql file becomes unreadable for DVIEW and it just crashes without warning ... you can see this behavior by opening DVIEW directly (not from within OS) and then loading the sql file in the "run" directory. The solution for me here was (and still is) to run the simulation first WITHOUT the OS Results measure, create a copy of the sql file somewhere else like your desktop, before you run the simulation again but this time with the OS Results measure enabled. Hope that works for other folks too ...

Version 1.2.0 of DVIEW resolved the issue described above - no more crashes when running the OpenStudio Results measure and then opening DVIEW (https://github.com/NREL/wex/releases/...)
