I am using Design Builder v6 to model Treated Fresh Air System which is getting its Fresh Air intake through Heat Recovery System via Toilet Exhaust ducts. These TFAs supply the Treated Fresh Air to Floor/Zone level AHUs. How can we possibly model this system using the Design-Builder interface?

My understanding is that EnergyPlus doesn’t currently allow different air loops to be connected in this way, although that functionality is due to be available from EnergyPlus later this year. In the meantime you may have to consider simplifying your HVAC system and modelling the fresh air and heat recovery benefits directly on the Floor/zone AHUs. If you have a licence and need additional guidance on this DesignBuilder’s Support Desk can provide the details so please contact them.

You may consider using an EnergyManagementScript to 'model' the system by way of actuating the air conditions onto the Floor/Zone AHUs. I have considered this approach, but not implemented it, for similar scenarios.
