Absorption Chiller COP EnergyPlus

Hello again,

How can I specify my absorption chillers COP? I can not find any space to enter my absorption chiller's COP neither in Chiller:Absorption nor in Chiller:Absorption:Indirect

By the way, I do not know the Part Load Ratio's of the Absorption Chiller which I use, I cannot find the data in data-sheets. Is it an important issue?

Thanks

I have never used those models but I believe that the performance curves themselves are where you put the COP. In the Chiller:Absorption model you put it into the coefficients in the object for steam use part load ratio curve and for Chiller:Absorption:Indirect you put into the coefficients for the two generator heat input correction curves. So the nominal performance of the chiller at rated conditions should be reproduced by the curves at the rated conditions. This is not the approach used by many of the other chiller models in EnergyPlus but seems to be the approach here. The lack of an explicit COP field might be due (I'm just speculating) to absorption chillers having a COP near one anyway.

To answer your second question, the part load ratios are fairly important. If you don't know them, you can always try the values used in example files that use that object and do some sensitivity testing to see how much impact they have. Another option is contacting the manufacturer.
