Hi,

Currently I am using Sketchup to set up the geometry for EnergyPlus. I just wonder if there is any effort to make a new 3D geometry platform in the near future that is free to use for energy simulation.

Thanks

if you have access to a Rhinoceros license, Ladybug tools is a very good shot - https://www.ladybug.tools/ Check out Honeybee.

There are no plans to make a 3D interface on the E+ developer side.

Not a direct answer to the OP's question, but possibly helpful for those who are finding that Sketchup is no longer free.

As mentioned here by @ericmartinp: a perpetually free older version of Sketchup can be downloaded here.

Then, a version of the Euclid Sketchup plugin that works with that version can be found here.

I found this to be a working, free solution.

I updated your answer to call it the "Euclid" sketchup plugin, not the "OpenStudio" sketchup plugin, since that's what it is called. The OpenStudio sketchup plugin is different.
