Hi I am trying to draw a rectangle on the envelope for where the windows are suppose to be but the tool creates the rectangle on the same plane as the window.
The second photo shows that there is a gap between my envelope and the window. I would like the same shape of this window but on the envelope face (so openstudio can let me set it as a window).
your best bet is to move the window and flush it with the wall surface. Select the window then use the move tool to grab the window and hover on the wall until the tool shows "on Face". this way you will have it flushed with the wall and you can draw the rectangle on the window.

Still having some issues. Is there a way to see the background layer but not have sketchup touch it? Also, are the windows suppose to show up as subsurfaces because they did not. (Envelopes showed up as surfaces)
Edit: Ok so I managed to draw a rectangle where I wanted it. I used the Project Loose Geometry feature and it created an OpenStudio layer. However it does not come up as a subsurface in OS!
Ok, so I got it to work after many attempts but its not consistent making it an OS window/door. Why does it disappear randomly after I use the "select loose geometry" button? The layers are checked on too
Are you selecting all the loose geometry in the project? Try selecting one level or less and run the measure. To keep your losse geometry, save a backup copy of the SketchUp model before using the tool. This way you don’t have to draw the windows again if the measure mess them up. I am not sure why this tool is acting this way.
Yes, I usually do one window at a time. I also save and backup so I restart the program if it bugs out.
