Currently I am doing the building energy model in EnergyPlus, I am confused what templates to be used in the idf editor to model split-type and window type air-conditioners (both are cooling only no heating). I try ZoneHVAC:WindowAirConditioner for window type and I think it works because there is no error displayed after my simulation. Is it possible to use ZoneHVAC:WindowAirConditioner template for split type system? and if not, what are other options? Thank you. Your help is much appreciated. God bless.

For a simple single-speed cooling-only split DX system, ZoneHVAC:WindowAirConditioner should work fine. Just be sure to set the nominal performance to be appropriate for the system type. The split system is likely to have higher supply fan pressure and different cooling COP. Other options that would also work are ZoneHVAC:PackagedTerminalAirConditioner (PTAC) and AirloopHVAC:UnitarySystem.

As a side note, "no error displayed" does not necessarily mean that the simulation is working as desired. At a minimum, always check the hours thermostat setpoint not met to be sure that the zone was conditioned properly.
