Hello, I am new to learn EnergyPlus.

This time, I want to calculate cooling capacity inside the building, and using only design day simulation for calculation.

image description

This is the sensible cooling load result for the zone and we get 19.47 kW for sensible cooling load, and I did the zone component load summary to get a cooling load breakdown of the model, and I am not quite sure about interpreting the result from simulation.

image description

From the cooling load breakdown, the total sensible cooling load is 17.8 kW and latent cooling load is 1.87 kW. The sensible cooling load is quite different with the HVAC sizing summary.

I am wondering how to define the accurate cooling capacity for HVAC sizing in energyplus by looking at the result of simulation.

Thank you for your consideration to answer my question.

HVAC Sizing Summary (and other sizing outputs) are the answers resulting from the full heat balance sizing calculations and user sizing inputs. Use these results.

The Estimated Cooling Peak Load Components are just that - a side calculation that gives estimates of the various instant and delayed heat gain components that contribute to the peak load. This separation of the various heat flows back to the original sources is not perfect and is useful only to see the relative contributions of the various load components. The smaller table which follows immediately after the components table (not shown above) compares this back to the "actual" cooling peak load result.
