HVAC schedule name in OpenStudio

Hello everyone! I am new to Open Studio and have a question about HVAC schedule set up in the program. For example, I have a zone level PTHP. On the "Availability Schedule Name" tab will have choices of either Always On Discrete hvac_library or Always On Discrete xxx (numbers). If I want to set up the system running based on occupancy schedule and thermostat, which one should I choose here? And what is discrete 1,2,3,4,5...means? Where can I see these schedules? Didn't find anything from hvac_library.

Many thanks!image description

In OS there are many types of schedules inherited from E+. You can look at the differnet schedules type listed in the library:

You can read about the schedules different types in the I/O Reference.

I believe that when you insert the PTHP OS automatically creates the constant schedule always on discrete havc_library . Unfortunately in OS GUIyou can only inspect and edit Rullset schedules. If you want to see the content of the schedules other types you will have to open either the osm file or the generated in.idf file (located in the run directory of your project) with text editor and search for the specific name of the schedule. In the benign case of the schedule you asked about it's value is 1.

If you want to use other schedule yo can construct a Rullset schedule in the schedule tab and later select it from the same pull down menu were the always on schedule appears.
