Hi all. We're looking for a couple of good sources of information for Medical Lab data that we can use for benchmarking. Please post any public resources you might be aware of. I very much appreciate your help.

@JO. Another thing to do is tag this question with 'labs' and 'benchmarking' to help with routing.

Here is some general information about hospitals and medical offices.

http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy14osti/610...

It's not a comprehensive list of laboratory equipment, but may still be helpful.

I was going to suggest CBECS right off the batt, and I see that your link actually includes CEBCS + a few, so it's larger. Could you please include a couple of pointers from the FAQ as an introduction (once sentence will do)?

Here is a better laboratory specific data set. This would only apply towards buildings that are laboratories (although the percentage of lab space vs other space can be used to filter the results), not necessarily a medical laboratory inside of another facility.

EPA's Targetfinder has a "Laboratory" category but the Median Propoerty EUI is only 61.6 which seems really low for medical labs.

Can you add a link to this source?

61.6 is pretty low for most types of labs! What were the parameters that were entered to define the building characteristics?

I thought so too! I didn't save the result since i thought it was so far off of reality, but i think that the inputs were:

  • United States
  • Missouri
  • 64152
  • Laboratory (100%)
  • 25000 sqft
