Sefaira's website states the following "Real Time Analysis in Revit enables design teams to achieve their vision of high performance buildings in a rigorous and efficient manner." I am interested in know how rigorous this tool is and what simulation techniques/engine it is based on. When is it most appropriate to use for a project?

@Shanta Tucker The title of this question seems to be asking for subjective responses. I would suggest rephrasing the question title to better reflect the question content. Maybe something like "What are the underlying simulation techniques used by Sefaira?". This is not the best venue to ask about endorsements of specific products, as "this group" undoubtedly represents a wide range of opinions on the topic.

Hi Shanta,

Good to hear from you. We use DaySim / Radiance for daylighting, and ASHRAE RTS method (with enhancements for accuracy of solar gains) for load calcs. We have integrated EnergyPlus for thermal comfort calculations, and will soon be launching deeper integration with Open Studio and EnergyPlus for MEP system design, sizing, & planning. While we have over 300 architecture firms using Sefaira, we now have some MEP firms piloting our new solution for MEP system design as well.

We have done validation studies along the lines of 140, and are happy to share that documentation. If you are interested in taking a look, just send me a note or provide me an email address. I will get in touch with you.

Hi, Could you please send me the results according to ASHRAE 140 ? I'm wondering why SEFAIRA is not publishing validation files like other softwares.

Sefaira has historically used ASHRAE's radiant time series calculations but they are currently integrating EnergyPlus into their platform. I pinged the Sefaira developers to join unmethours.com and provide additional details.

I realise that this is an old post but has anyone played with importing the IDF exported out of Sefaira and completing further detailed analysis within Openstudio/Energyplus?
