Problem to save .osm file

Hello all,

I'm new in OpenStudio, I just instaled Sketchup 2017 Make and OpenStudio 2.1.0 (Window 10 64 bits) but I'm having some problems:

The first problem that I'm having is that I cannot save the OpenStudio model .osm. I'm not able to upload pictures however I will try to explain what happened:

  • I click on "Save OpenStudio Model as" and the extension .osm does not appear. Even if i write the exetension in the file name (in my example "demo.osm") and click save, the file doesn't appear in the file directory.

Finally when I try to open the .skb file (the only one that I have on the folder), I have following error:

"Removing previously linked OpenStudio content Open OpenStudio model at 'C:/Users/André/Desktop/demo/demo.osm' to restore content"

But there is no file into the directory. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thank you for your help André

This question has been answered here before

When you are loading a model in SketchUp, you should always open SketchUp first, and then use the "Open OpenStudio Model" icon to load the OpenStudio model.

When saving, use the "Save OpenStudio Model As" option to save. You do not need to specify the file extension. I'm able to save a model using OpenStudio 2.1 plug-in on Windows 7.

Hello,

Thank you for your quik response.

My problem is not the same that you posted because as I wrote, I'm not able to save the OpenStudio Model .osm (so I cannot open the file in "Open Openstudio Model").

When I click in "Save OpenStudio Model As" I type file name (with ou without the file extension .osm, the result is the same) and I click save, the window "Save OpenStudio Model As" closes. The problem is that the plug-in extension doesn't create the file .osm in the directory. When I go to "Open Openstudio Model" there are none OpenStudio Model (.osm) to select.

that's not normal behavior... perhaps there is an error on the save. Is it a particular model that you cannot save, or can you not save any model?

This happened when I was doing the Introductory Tutorial SketchUp Plug-in - Building Envelope. But this also happens when I tro do save other models. Even with a blank model, I'm not able to save the .osm.

Which version of SketchUp are you using? OpenStudio 2.1 is only compatible with SketchUp 2017.

I'm using the SketchUp 2017 Make, I will try to reinstal the SketchUp and the OpenStudio 2.1.0.
