Remove all outputs from OS simulation

I would like to remove all of the outputs of an OS simulation. If I unselect all outputs, I still have electricity monitored.

The reason I want to do this is because I want to look at 3 specific outputs at an hourly interval. I need to do this in Excel. To do this I can extract the data using the eso tool in the E+ folder but when I do this for an OS model, it has electricity reporting at 6x an hour, which makes the spreadsheet very awkward. I'd like full control of the outputs.

You can create an RVI file which will specify the outputs from the ESO file to be exported to CSV:

Dan, Does this approach work in OpenStudio? Where would I add the rvi file? I used rvi files ~5 years ago in E+ to get >255 outputs. I tried for 3 hours this morning following many guides and I cannot seem to create one that will give me only the outputs I want. This is a second question. If I were to get it to work I would like to know where to put it.

Dragging the eso file to the E+ installation does not seem to work and dragging the ReadVarsESO to the working directory does not either.

I'd just like the easiest approach to create a csv file without variables that I dont want...

The easiest way to do this right now is to run the ReadVarsESO program on the command line, passing the path to your RVI file as an argument. You might see if Big Ladder's free EnergyPlus support would help with any questions you have: http://bigladdersoftware.com/projects...source=unmethours&utmmedium=qa&utm_campaign=support-2014-12.

Longer term, OpenStudio recognizes the demand for this feature so we are starting a feature request to track it: https://github.com/NREL/OpenStudio/is...

Thank you!

This looks like a solution but I am teaching OS to a group of 40 students on a very tight time scale and this may be too much. It'd be nice to have full control of the output, I'm not sure why you cannot remove some of the output and select only the outputs that are relevant to the study at hand.

This should be a comment to Dan's answer vs. a new answer.

There is an add meter measure that has an argument for frequency.

Then another will make a flood plot much like ResultsViewer. You could change that to write out to a csv. Here is an example that writes out CSV as a guide.

Thank you. When you say 'you can change that', what exactly should I change? Do I need to learn ruby scripting to output OS simulation data to csv? I'd like to get csv data from an OS simulation without taking the idf into E+ and executing the simulation there. Is that possible?
