PAT or OS results?

Hi guys,

The way that I run most of my models is creating a baseline file and a proposed file on OS since I'm not that good writing or creating measures to work with a single file, then i took both files and compare them on PAT to check the EUI and energy savings.

I notice that when i run my proposed model on OS i get some results but when i run it on PAT as an alternative design For my baseline I get a completely different results, what I'm thinking is that PAT is not carrying my measures.

The measures that Im using are some natural ventilation measures and an utility measure.
I'm using OS and PAT Version 1.4.0 since is a project that i have a while ago.

which of these results are more reliable, the PAT ones or the OS ones? is there a way to check that PAT is carrying the measures that im using on OS?

Lets assume you have an OSM model that is has measures associated with it (you added them in the "measure" tab of the OpenStudio application as opposed to using "Apply Measure Now" ).

If you load this model into PAT as the baseline model then it will bring in all of the measure that previously where in the "measures" tab of the OpenStudio application. They will be "Always Run" measure in PAT.
But if you instead load that model as a design alternative, you are correct, only the OSM model content comes in, and not any measures that were associated with it.

If the baseline models are the same other than the measures you are applying then you could just apply the measures to the design alternative. If there isn't a way for you to do this, there is a workflow to import an IDF in as a design alternative, but there are some issues with it. Also if you just have two sets of geometry options, or the geometry is the same, but you have two different HVAC systems, a measure could swap out the geometry or HVAC systems. I do understand there is a learning curve to write new measures. But if you describe what you need, there may already be similar measures.

i change the construction materials and lpd, im was trying to create these inputs as a measure so i don't have to create a second OSM file for every single project but i didn't have time to finish them before my deadline. That's why i copy my baseline and the just change the inputs on the proposed file and then run it when the natural ventilation measures that i have.

Thanks for your advice for my next project i will try to just apply the measures as a design alternative.
