Measure not working: Replace Exterior Window Construction with a Different Construction from the Model

I am trying to use the measure "Replace Exterior Window Construction with a Different Construction from the Model" to do just what it says.

I have one construction that I want to swap out for a PAT analysis.

Measure runs, identifies the existing construction, and reports replacing 0 ft^2...

I found the problem. It is ignoring inherited constructions. It only replaces constructions entered at the space level.

The measure runs for me.

Some things to check: You have the option of specifying whether a window is fixed or operable in our model. Did you check both "Change Fixed Windows" and "Change Operable Windows" in the measure? Are the windows on surfaces that are modeled as having an "Outdoors" boundary condition? Can you confirm there are windows by opening the model in SketchUp?

If you post a link to the model (dropbox, etc.), it will be easier to find out what is going on.

@CRHavis I just tested it with a mix of hard assigned and inherited constructions, and it still replaced them with the selected construction. There may have been a different cause. Did you see any warnings, also did the initial condition list any exterior window constructions?

Here is a link to the model. https://www.transferbigfiles.com/cb47... I did not see errors when applying the measure.

@CRHavis, thanks for the file link. I can re-produce what you are saying. I'll file an issue to fix this. Currently the measure works with hard assigned constructions, and construction sets inherited from the building level, but not construction sets inherited from the space, space type, or building story. I'll post updated measure online once I get it changed and tested, but for now either hard assign or only use a building level default construction set. You have it assigned at building level, space type, and space.

I have the same problem as described. Is there a way to make this measure works ?

Two solutions have been proposed by David Goldwasser, 'hard assign' or ' using building level default construction' but I might need more explanations.

I want to apply a measure in the PAT that changes regular windows for Trp LoE (e5=.1) Clr 3mm-13mm Arg for a LEED simulation.

@mhtalb this particular measure doesn't make a new construction for you. It is intended for use when both constructions are already in the model, and the measure just re-assigns windows to switch from one construction to another.
