Is it possible to simulate controlled external shading? Or to link to an external logic controller?

I'm going to simulate a controllable external shading for a building. I want to know what will be the effect of using this controlled external shading on building cooling demand. Is OpenStudio able to simulate this dynamic model? What about EnergyPlus?

If it isn't able to simulate I will use PLC (programmable logic controller) for programming the external shading, is it possible to import the PLC program to OpenStudio or EnergyPlus?

Take a look at the WindowProperty:ShadingControl documentation here. There are various control types available.

There is also a tutorial online on how to model shading controls in OpenStudio here. You can often find details on how to do things in OpenStudio by using the EnergyPlus help documentation (as @Waseem says) since OpenStudio uses EnergyPlus as its calculation engine.

If that isn't sufficient for what you need then it is likely to be easier to write an EMS program which replicates the logic rather than link with external software.

Dear Mr Bull Thank you for your great answer. Already, I don't have energyplus installed. My knowledge of energyplus and openstudio is limited, so could you please tell me that if the documentation was related to energyplus ? I prefer to use openstudio because I don't have so much time and I think that openstudio is easier to use

The link is for EnergyPlus, yes. I've now added a link to a tutorial for shading controls OpenStudio.

@amirrezaheydari: EnergyPlus documentation can be used for OpenStudio e.g. in your case, explanation of different shading control types etc.
