  1. I am setting up a chilled water tank in series with chiller as explained in the Plant Application guide . The documentation suggests I need to have CoolingsystPlantloop setpoint manager and schedule type to be 'temperature.' How and what schedules and setpoint manager can be set in Open studio image description to be set as in EP image description

  2. How do I request specific output variable like these in Openstudio? Output:Variable,,Chilled Water Thermal Storage Tank Temperature, hourly; !- HVAC Average [C] Output:Variable,,Chilled Water Thermal Storage Final Tank Temperature, hourly; !- HVAC Average [C] Output:Variable,,Chilled Water Thermal Storage Tank Heat Gain Rate, hourly; !- HVAC Average [W] Output:Variable,,Chilled Water Thermal Storage Source Side Heat Transfer Energy, hourly; !- HVAC Sum [J] Output:Variable,*,Chilled Water Thermal Storage Temperature Node 1,hourly; !- HVAC Average [C]

I believe the set point manger should be placed on the node downstream of the tank. You need to create a schedule in the schedule tap in the OS to set up the targeted temperature for example 45.4 F. You can find more detail of chilled water tank example in E+ example files:5ZoneVAV-ChilledWaterStorage-Mixed.idf 5ZoneVAV-ChilledWaterStorage-Mixed_DCV_MaxZd.idf 5ZoneVAV-ChilledWaterStorage-Mixed_DCV_MultiPath.idf 5ZoneVAV-ChilledWaterStorage-Stratified.idf

The outputs, you can use either OS output variable measure or in the E+, running the simulation first then request desired output variables.

I tried to create a plant loop with thermal storage in the branch with chiller:EIR. After creating all the objects for supply and demand side half loops. I am now stuck where you define the operation scheme, as my requirement is to use chiller off-peak during off-peak hours and TES +chiller during on-peak hours (depending on the defined peak and off-peak hours and the available storage). How to achieve this on the plant -condenser control.
