Rotating PV in EnergyPlus

Hi, has anyone tried modeling rotating PV in EnergyPlus? I want to compare it on an hourly and monthly basis. Do you think this approach might be good or not? I will have three PV panels, one facing east, one south, and one west. For the hourly case, I would schedule the east-facing PV to be active and set the others to 0 until 11 a.m. From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. I would activate the south-facing PV, and after 3 p.m. the west-facing PV. For the monthly case, I would do something similar. Would this approach be correct?

Are you trying to determine the best orientation for the PV array?

No—I’m rotating a PV array. As far as I know, EnergyPlus doesn’t support rotating PV. Instead, we can approximate it by placing three identical PV arrays in different orientations and using schedules to activate each one at the appropriate time. That was my idea.

The PVWatts model has the ability to model one axis and two axis rotating arrays. See the Array Type field.
