how to add AFN to PAT?

asked Feb 24

updated Feb 24

I built a model using OpenStudio, and then saved it as IDF and added AFN using EP. Now I need to do some sensitivity analysis using PAT, How can I add AFN to the .osm seed model file in PAT, Is there a measure for AFN ? PAT does not take IDF files since it is OpensSudio. Any idea how to take into account AFN in PAT? Thanks

The AFN objects are wrapped in the OS SDK, but I can't recall of a measure that does it for you. So you're probably looking at creating your own measure for it (or use a scripting language to add it to your model).

There are a couple of examples of usage on the OpenStudio-resources repo, here are the link to the Ruby versions but you'll find a Python equivalent:

Firstly, you can try importing the .idf file with the AFN back into OpenStudio. However, at the time of writing, I'm not sure if OpenStudio can read airflow networks from .idf files.

None the less I suggest that you try this first.

Currently the Building Components Library website appears to be down, I do believe that there is an example measure or components there with Air flow networks. Please check back later to take a look. This is a good starting point if you cannot import the .idf into OpenStudio.

Alternatively I suggest that you check out the pollination discord there should be some examples of using the OpenStudio SDK to build up a airflow network there in a measure.

Lastly you can try to build a measure using the OpenStudio SDK yourself at: https://openstudio-sdk-documentation....
